The Bishop Lavis Community Policing Forum is calling for urgent intervention from the police following the fatal shooting of a three-month-old baby in Bonteheuwel on the Cape Flats on Friday morning.
Police spokesperson Joseph Swaartbooi says two armed men suspected to be gang members entered a house and proceeded to one of the living rooms. One of the men opened fire, leaving the infant with serious injuries.
The child was rushed to hospital for medical treatment, but was later declared dead by medical personnel. No arrests have been made.
