Violent incidents broke out across Cameroon following the announcement of Paul Biyas victory with 55.66 of the vote, defeating Issa Tchiroma Bakary, who received 35.19. In Garoua, Tchiromas stronghold, at least two people were killed by gunfire near the candidates home. These deaths add to the four fatalities in Douala, Cameroons economic capital, from clashes between pro-Tchiroma protesters and security forces.
