The Secretary General of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has asked the Cameroon football federation (FECAFOOT) to immediately halt all activities in preparations of the ban of Geremi Sorel Njitap Fotso and transfer the case to Cairo given the concerned is accused of violations vis-a-vis a CAF event. In a letter signed by Veron Mosengo-Omba and sent to FECAFOOT on May 6, the continental body has told FECAFOOT Njitap can only be disciplined by the organizers of the competition he is accused to have breeched rules. The letter tagged Request for Clarification and addressed to Blaise Djounang of FECAFOOT reads; I am writing to you today to bring to your attention a matter of concern regarding Mr. Geremi Njitap. Following the match between Cameroon and Gambia during the group stage of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2023 in Cte dIvoire, it has been alleged that Mr. Njitap entered the dressing rooms reserved for the Cameroon national team without authorization. As a result, and based on the information we have received, FECAFOOT is reportedly considering taking measures that could potentially hinder Mr. Njitaps ability to participate in football-related activities. Given that the alleged incident occurred during an official CAF competition, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) would have exclusive jurisdiction to hear this matter. If this is the case, we request that you cease any proceedings that may be underway and transmit to CAF all necessary documentation and relevant evidence. For starters, Etoo and Njitap had engaged in an open war after the latter was denied access to the Indomitable Lions dressing room in the wake of Cameroons 3-2 win against The Gambia during their third group game of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Bouake - Cte DIvoire.
