Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has named his preliminary squad for the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations AFCON - with nearly half coming from Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
Broos announced the 54-man squad on Monday 24 November. The premier continental competition starts on Sunday, 21 December 2025 and ends on Sunday, 18 January 2026 in Morocco.
Bafana preliminary AFCON squadOrlando Pirates, which has been in fine form since its two losses at the start of the season, has had 12 of its players named. 10 players from current league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns also feature in the preliminary list.
