The British High Commission in South Africa has publicly apologised to Julius Malema, the fiery leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters EFF, for the unresolved status of his visa application.
The apology follows Malemas expressed outrage over being denied entry to the UK just hours before his scheduled flight to attend the Cambridge Conference this weekend.
On Wednesday afternoon, Malema took to the social media platform X, where he voiced his frustration: The British authorities have denied me a visa to London for the Cambridge Conference this weekend, providing no substantial justification.
This incident has drawn significant public scrutiny and condemnation, given the apparent lack of notice regarding the visa denial.
In a letter made public by the EFF, High Commissioner Antony Phillipson expressed his regret regarding the timing of the UK bank holidays, which he claimed contributed to the inability to finalise Malema's visa application.
