Bournemouth's impressive run just keeps getting better. The Cherries climbed to second place in the Premier League after a convincing 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the Vitality Stadium, stretching their unbeaten streak to seven matches across all competitions. Softfootball predicted a win for the Cherries in the pregame report but wont have expected Sean Dyches side not to put up an impressive fight.
From the first whistle, Andoni Iraola's side looked sharper and hungrier. Their early pressure paid off midway through the first half when Marcus Tavernier's curling corner somehow looped over goalkeeper Matz Sels and dropped straight into the net. It was a strange one replays showed the ball may have brushed off Forest's Neco Williams before deflecting back onto Tavernier, raising eyebrows and frustration on the away bench.
Sean Dyche, taking charge of his first league game as Forest manager, cut a frustrated figure on the touchline. Many expected this game to be the continuance of a resurgence following their 2-nil victory over Porto in the Europa League. His side barely had time to regroup before Bournemouth struck again.
