The National Consumer Commission NCC has issued a warning to consumers about fraudulent retailers, especially during the Black Friday sales and the upcoming festive season. In a recent press release, the NCC emphasized the need for vigilance when shopping online, as some websites appear to be legitimate businesses but are, in fact, scams designed to defraud consumers.
The NCC has identified about 40 suppliers who seem to have vanished or whose listed addresses cannot be traced, often in relation to car dealerships, business directories, clothing retailers, and holiday accommodation providers. These suppliers typically accept orders and payments but fail to deliver the promised goods or services.
To protect themselves, consumers are advised to exercise extra caution, avoid transactions with these dubious suppliers, and report any suspicious activity. The NCC's warning serves as a reminder for consumers to carefully check the legitimacy of online businesses, especially during high-traffic shopping periods like Black Friday and the holidays.
