The 2024-25 Betway Premiership finally wrapped up on Thursday 29 May, with the completion of the abandoned game between SuperSport United and Golden Arrows.
The second half of their match which was originally abandoned back in February due to load shedding was completed at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, with no further addition to the 1-1 score line.
As a result, SuperSport secured survival in the South African top-flight. Matsatsantsa rose to 14th place they drew level with Cape Town City on 27 points, but were ranked above the Citizens on goal difference. As a result, City were pushed down to 15th and will enter the promotion/relegation playoffs.
The result completes a troubled 2024-25 Premiership season, which was blighted by the ultimate expulsion of Royal AM. The KwaZulu-Natal clubs fixtures were postponed when they were taken over by the South African Revenue Services due to tax troubles for controversial owner Shauwn Mkhize.
Potential trouble still awaits, however, with appeals over Durban Citys triumph in the second-tier Motsepe Foundation Championship which sees them promoted to the Premiership still ongoing.
