Manchester United's pursuit of Benjamin Sesko is heating up and fast. Confidence within the club has reportedly intensified, with Softfootball insiders describing the belief that the 21-year-old striker wants only Manchester United is getting stronger.
The shift in tone follows United's official bid of 75 million plus 10 million in add-ons to RB Leipzig, alongside a formal contract proposal submitted directly to the player. The Red Devils are pulling out all the stops to land one of Europe's brightest young forwards and the signs are promising.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the latest developments via his official X account :
Further insight came from German journalist Florian Plettenberg, who reinforced the notion that Sesko has always leaned toward Old Trafford.
He tweeted via his official X account , saying:
While Newcastle United submitted a higher overall package , reportedly in the region of 90 million, sources close to the player suggest Manchester United remains his priority. A gentleman's agreement between Sesko and RB Leipzig may have given United a psychological edge, even if not a contractual one.
Sesko has reportedly trained separately from Leipzig's first team and is believed to have informed teammates of his imminent departure, further fuelling the belief that a move is imminent.
Softfootball understands that United's bid was internally approved after discussions at Carrington confirmed that Sesko is indeed open to joining Ruben Amorim's project. United see the Slovenian as a long-term solution up front, especially following Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund's inconsistency last season.
Leipzig, however, are holding firm. There's no release clause discount on the table, and the German side has no interest in a player-swap deal. While they are open to selling this summer, it will be strictly on their terms.
A decision is expected within days, with all parties eager to bring clarity before the Bundesliga and Premier League seasons kick off.
