As Cape Town prepares for another bustling beach weekend to celebrate the New Year, officials are calling on beachgoers to prioritise safety by remaining within designated safe zones at local beaches.
The Community Services and Health Directorate has reported that since December 1, there have been 19 non-fatal drownings, highlighting the need for vigilance among visitors.
This past Monday, December 29, lifeguards at Clovelly Beach faced a particularly demanding day, managing to avert tragedy during two separate incidents that collectively involved four non-fatal drownings.
