Winger Ansu Fati has joined French side Monaco on a season-long loan from Barcelona, with an option for the Ligue 1 club to make the move permanent, Monaco confirmed on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old Spanish international becomes Monaco's third major signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Eric Dier and Paul Pogba. Both joined the club on free transfers and will be presented alongside Fati at a press conference on Thursday.
The agreement includes a purchase clause set at 11 million 9.3 million, and a source close to the negotiations told AFP that Barcelona will continue to pay a substantial portion of Fati's wages during the loan period. However, the Catalan club would benefit financially from any future sale.
Fati, born in Guinea-Bissau, burst onto the scene with Barcelona at just 16 and quickly became one of their most promising young talents. He went on to make 123 appearances, scoring 29 goals, and helped the club to win La Liga titles in 2023 and 2025, as well as two Copa del Rey trophies.
On the international stage, Fati has earned 11 caps for Spain, scoring twice. He was part of the squad for the 2022 World Cup and played a role in Spain's 2023 Nations League triumph.
