The Shai Hope-led West Indies WI will be up against Mehidy Hasan Miraz's Bangladesh BAN for the upcoming first ODI of the three-match series on Saturday, October 18 at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
The hosts Bangladesh haven't had a great time ODIs of late, as they lost to Afghanistan by a shambolic 3-0 margin. Their recent series clean sweep reflects the side they are in one-day cricket, as they fared poorly in the Champions Trophy 2025 as well. Mehidy will look to bring his men in union to put up a favourable performance in Dhaka in the next game.
The West Indies are the visiting side and already have a lower morale ahead of the Saturday's contest, as they recently faced a whitewash against the Indian team in a two-match Test series. However, in the white-ball leg in Bangladesh, the two-time champions will be more than pumped up to confirm their qualification for the next ODI World Cup, to be held in Africa in 2027.
