In matchday nines round of fixtures, South Africa were held to a 0-0 draw by Zimbabwe at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Friday while Rwanda fell 1-0 to Benin at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.
This put Benin ahead of South Africa by two points at the top of group C, with a two goal advantage on goal difference heading into the final game of the qualifying group stage.
