Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has supported the Confederation of African Footballs CAF decision to hold the Africa Cup of Nations AFCON tournament every four years from 2028.
CAF has held the continental football bonanza every two years since 1968, except for a one-year gap between the 2012 and 2013 editions. This has often caused competing priorities for both national teams and players.
The global football calendar has to be significantly more synchronised and harmonised, said CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe when he announced the decision on 20 December.
