The African Union AU has rejected the decision taken by Israel to recognise Somaliland as an independent state. The continental body says the AUs constitutive act must be respected and that it will not violate the 1964 OAU decision taken by the OAU in 1964 that commits to respect the borders inherited during independence.
The decision by Israel to recognise Somaliland is seen as another example of Israel attempts to divide African countries.
The Arab states have also rejected the latest move by Israel and has committed to supporting Somalia.
