Arsenal have completed the signing of Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad in a deal reportedly worth around 55 million, marking their second major addition of the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old Euro 2024 winner, who had been on the radar of Liverpool and Real Madrid, has signed a five-year contract with the Gunners.
Describing the transfer as a "huge moment" in his career, Zubimendi said, "It's the move I've been hoping for. From the moment I arrived, I could see how big this club is. Arsenal's style suits me perfectly, and their progress in recent seasons shows the best is still to come."
According to The Athletic, Arsenal paid more than the 60 million 51 million release clause in Zubimendi's contract to spread the payment over instalments.
Zubimendi made 236 appearances for Real Sociedad after progressing through their academy and has earned 19 caps for Spain. His arrival follows the departures of Thomas Partey and Jorginho, strengthening Mikel Arteta's midfield options.
