Apple is gearing up for the release of the iPhone 17 series, and multiple leaks suggest a major shake-up in the lineup. The iPhone 17 Plus is expected to be scrapped, making way for a new model called the iPhone 17 Air poised to become the slimmest iPhone in the companys history.
A New Era of Slim Design According to reports, the iPhone 17 Air will be just 5.5 mm thick excluding the camera bump, significantly thinner than any previous iPhone. The camera setup is expected to include a single 48MP lens. While pricing hasnt been confirmed, the Air model is likely to sit between the base iPhone 17 and the higher-end Pro models.
Battery and Colours Leaked Recent leaks have also revealed new details about the phones battery and design. A blog post on Naver by user Lanzuk shared an image allegedly showing the iPhone 17 Airs battery, which appears to be only 2.49 mm thick slimmer than that of the iPhone 17 Pro. The battery is expected to have a 2,800 mAh capacity, smaller than the iPhone 16 Plus, and the phone will weigh around 145 grams.
Another leak by tipster yeux1122, who has a solid track record on Apple-related leaks, claims the device will feature a 6.6-inch display. Meanwhile, tech blogger Sonny Dickson posted rendered images on July 30 showing a redesigned camera island and four colour options: light blue, white, black, and light gold.
Launch Timeline and Specs Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 Air in early September 2025, with launch dates speculated to fall on either Monday, September 8, or Wednesday, September 10 in line with Apples usual release schedule.
