ANC MPs have reportedly called for the Democratic Alliance DA to be removed from the government of national unity GNU, citing escalating tensions and a lack of cooperation.

According to The Citizen , which cited the Sunday Times , the demand came during a heated ANC meeting on Friday, originally convened by Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula to discuss the upcoming national budget.

MPs slammed the DA for its repeated rejection of key budget proposals, further straining the coalition.

One MP reportedly told Mbalula that the DA's actions were damaging the ANC and the coalition, urging swift action to sever ties with the party.

There is no willingness from the DA to work with us. Their behavior shows they have no respect for our government, a source was quoted as saying.
