The African National Congress ANC has thanked Malusi Gigaba for stepping aside from his official responsibilities, saying it shows discipline, maturity and revolutionary consciousness.
Gigaba, a former NEC member and Public Enterprises, has been charged with corruption related to a multi-billion-rand locomotives tender at Transnet and appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court in Johannesburg alongside four co-accused on Tuesday.
Currently, Gigaba is a member of parliament and co-chair of the Joint-Standing Committee on Defence.
