Amazon Leo has unveiled its new gigabit-speed "Ultra" antenna and launched an enterprise preview program, giving select businesses the opportunity to test its advanced satellite internet services ahead of a wider rollout next year. Formerly known as Project Kuiper, Amazon Leo now operates with over 150 satellites in low Earth orbit, delivering enterprise-grade performance for private and public sector customers.
The Leo Ultra terminal, Amazon's fastest customer-grade phased array antenna in production, offers download speeds of up to 1 Gbps and upload speeds of up to 400 Mbps. Built for demanding environments, the durable, weather-resistant design can withstand extreme temperatures, precipitation, and high winds while enabling rapid installation without moving parts. Powered by a custom Amazon-designed silicon chip, the antenna integrates proprietary radio frequency and signal processing technology to maximize throughput and minimize latency-key for applications such as video conferencing, real-time monitoring, and cloud computing.
Amazon Leo provides enterprise-grade networking features, including direct integration with Amazon Web Services AWS via Direct to AWS D2A connections and Private Network Interconnect PNI solutions for secure connectivity to data centers. These features allow enterprises to move data securely from remote locations to private networks without relying on the public internet. The service also includes advanced encryption, network management tools, and 24/7 priority support for mission-critical operations.
