The eThekwini Municipality says preparations for the 98th Comrades Marathon are in full swing.
The biggest sporting event on the South African calendar is scheduled for Sunday.
This year it will be a down-run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.
The Municipality's spokesperson Gugu Sisilana says they have activated a comprehensive operational plan to ensure a spotless and welcoming environment for the ultra-marathon.
Sisilana says, "The plan is part of a broader city beautification and readiness programme coordinated across multiple departments to ensure that Durban is on top form for runners."
