New tourism infrastructure at the Agulhas National Park Lighthouse precinct in the Western Cape has been unveiled following an R81.7 million US4.9 million investment by the Department of Tourism and SANParks.

The upgrade includes a 60-seater restaurant, an interpretation centre, visitor and bus parking, new access stairways and a wheelchair ramp as well as upgrades to water, sewer and electrical services, landscaping and environmental rehabilitation. The precinct is also expected to create opportunities for SMMEs to offer crafts, food and cultural experiences.

The project is part of broader infrastructure initiatives aligned with the Tourism Growth Partnership Plan aimed at driving inclusive economic growth, product development and destination marketing.
