The African Export-Import Bank Afreximbank has marked a major milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony of the Afreximbank African Trade Centre AATC in Egypts New Administrative Capital, which will also serve as the Banks new global headquarters. The development underscores Afreximbanks expanding role in driving intra-African trade and positioning Egypt as a strategic hub for continental and global commerce.

Located in the Diplomatic District of the New Capital, around 45 kilometres east of Cairo, the AATC will sit within a purpose-built environment that hosts government ministries, foreign embassies, and international organisations. It will be the first African Trade Centre of its kind in North Africa, reinforcing Egypts standing in regional and international trade facilitation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Egypts Prime Minister, Dr Mostafa Madbouly, said the project reflects Egypts central role in advancing continental economic integration. He noted that, as host of Afreximbanks global headquarters, Egypt is strengthening its partnership with the Bank through a landmark facility designed to support trade intelligence, innovation, capacity building, and connectivity across Africa.
