The recent wildfires that spread across the Tokai, Silvermine and Kalk Bay mountains were one of the most devastating Cape Town has seen in recent years, torching over 3 000 hectares of fynbos, killing and displacing countless animals and forcing the evacuation of nearly 200 homes.
Although the blaze has since been contained, the aftermath remains starkly visible.
An aerial photo series by Jean Tresfon , a marine conservation photographer, documents the scale of the destruction left in the fires wake. The series captures the sobering beauty of a landscape reshaped by flames.
From the air, the once-green ridges are now charred and desolate, with the Silvermine Nature Reserve bearing the brunt of the damage.
The fireline runs from the Constantiaberg slopes to the Kalk Bay mountains, leaving a deep scar across the Peninsula.
