The Mankweng Magistrates Court outside Polokwane in Limpopo has granted R2 000 bail each to three men accused of abducting an elderly man and taking him to an initiation school.
The men, including a traditional healer, were arrested yesterday. They have been charged for the alleged attack on three men from at Ga-Mamatsha village east of Polokwane.
The trio face multiple charges including kidnapping , assault and contravention of the traditional initiation act. It is alleged that they were behind the abduction and circumcision of 72-year-old Matlankana Mathobela last week.
Mathobela was rescued from the initiation school a day after he was abducted. Two other locals were allegedly severely assaulted with sticks. The court has postponed the matter to September 18 for further investigation.
