Ghana's Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations has announced a major digital inclusion initiative aimed at expanding opportunities for persons with disabilities PWDs. Minister Samuel Nartey George MP revealed that the government will allocate 50,000 fully funded digital training slots for PWDs under the One Million Coders Programme beginning next year.
The announcement was made during the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebration, where the Minister reiterated government's commitment to ensuring that every citizen can meaningfully participate in the digital economy. He emphasized that digital transformation must remain accessible, inclusive, and beneficial to all, particularly marginalized groups.
Minister George highlighted ongoing government efforts to improve accessibility across digital public services. These include strengthening collaboration with the National Communications Authority NCA, private sector partners, and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to enhance affordable and inclusive communication services nationwide.
