Patriotic Alliance PA leader Gayton McKenzie has vowed to vacate his position as Sport, Arts and Culture Minister on Tuesday 30 September if Kenny Kunene is not reappointed Member of Mayoral Committee MMC for Transport in the City of Johannesburg.
Kunene, who is the PA Deputy President, resigned as a councillor and MMC in July amid controversy over his presence at the home of businessman Katiso KT Molefe , who is facing criminal charges.
An internal PA probe, conducted by law firm Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr, has since cleared him of wrongdoing. He has returned as a proportional representation councillor, but Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero is yet to reappoint him as MMC.
