The Economic Freedom Fighters EFF has retained ward 13 at Seshego near Polokwane in Limpopo following yesterdays hotly contested by-election.
EFF won the ward with a majority of 57.34.
The African National Congress ANC came in second with a support base of 2 000 votes, putting the party at just above 40.
The South African Communist Party SACP which was contesting elections independent from the ANC for the first time in the province, only secured 70 votes or just above 1 percentage of the votes.
IEC Provincial Electoral Officer, Nkaro Mateta, announced the EFF's Michael Ramaphoko as the new ward councillor.
