South Africas hopes of regaining the Dubai Sevens title they won five times from 2019 to 2023 have hit a little bump in the road.

Defending champions, Fiji, beat the Blitzboks 28-10 in their second Pool A match at the opening tournament of World Rugbys 2025/26 Sevens Series.

The more physical Fijians scored four converted tries to South Africas two to remain the only unbeaten team in the Pool. They are favourites to advance to Sundays semi-finals as Pool A winners, while the Blitzboks, Argentina and France will fight it out for the remaining semi-final spot.
