The Nyanga taxi rank turned into a scene of horror on Wednesday morning after gunmen opened fire on a crowded minibus, leaving two women dead and eight others wounded, Cape town Etc reports.
Police say the attack unfolded just after 10am, when several unidentified suspects unleashed a hail of bullets at a taxi parked inside the busy transport hub. Panic erupted as commuters scattered for safety while others tried to help the wounded.
Captain FC Van Wyk confirmed that Nyanga police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene. When they arrived, they found a devastating sight: two women had succumbed to their injuries, while seven other women and one man were rushed to nearby hospitals with gunshot wounds.
