Africa's digital transformation is rapidly unfolding across the continent. A thriving digital economy in Africa depends largely on access to a secure, reliable, and interoperable digital identification or "digital ID". Yet millions of people in Africa still lack a legal identity.
A digital ID system opens up opportunities and breaks down barriers to education, health care, and financial services such as mobile banking and digital payments. As African countries increasingly transition toward modern, secure, and inclusive digital economies, protecting digital ID systems from cyberattacks and vulnerabilities is essential.
Cybersecurity is the foundation of digital sovereignty and is critical to advancing a safer, more inclusive, and prosperous digital Africa.
