The Blues were pummeled 3-1 by Leeds United in midweek and were desperate for redemption against a Bournemouth side that also lost 1-0 in midweek to Everton. Cole Palmer started his first match since he returned from injured but he didn't look sharp like the midfielder that helped the team win the FIFA Club World Cup.
Chelsea were obviously disappointed by the result as they missed the chance to close the gap on Arsenal after the Gunners lost 2-1 to Aston Villa in the launch time kick-off. The Blues official X handle posted:
