Two City of Cape Town law enforcement officers, attached to the Metal Theft Unit, have been arrested for alleged corruption, extortion and business robbery.
They were arrested this morning. It is believed that the officers were targeting foreign owners of spaza shops and requesting their asylum documentation.
The City says the alleged incidents date back to January this year. During the arrest of one of the victims, the officers allegedly stole cigarettes worth over 600-thousand-rand from the victims vehicle.
